Before I start this post on Raw food diet, I first want to say that I know I’m in the minority. If you are reading this from the States, then it is highly likely that you’ve been raised on hotdogs, hamburgers, and french fries and ‘loving it.’ And I’m not here to deflate your meat-loving balloons but I do want to share something I hope you will consider…
While recently reading the article, Triumph over disease By Fasting and Natural Raw food diet, by doctors, I read something that struck a heavy chord with me. The article is actually about the author’s struggle with ulcerative colitis, which is very painful. (The Author is Doctor here FYI). And debilitating disease and how he healed his body by first fasting on water (for over a month!—talk about discipline) and then transitioning to a Raw food diet plan.
Hmmm, I keep bumping into this Raw food diet weight loss movement thing…I’m not totally ready to convert just yet but all signs seem to be pointing in that direction for true, total body healing. Anyway, I digress…
Natural Living, he asks the question ‘what’s so wrong with eating meat?’
I personally gave up meat many moons ago but I still eat turkey and fish and currently questioning that practice so I was especially curious as to what he was about to say. What followed was an insight I felt compelled to share with you.
“As soon as the animal is killed, the flesh begins to decay. As the animals are being killed, they all sense this. And build up a tremendous fear which releases into their tissues, which is eaten by the consumer. Most animals are given DES (diethylstilbestrol), a synthetic female hormone, to put on abnormal weight.
The consumer eats the meat, including the hormone, and this has been known to cause serious problems, particularly in women. The end products of meat digestion and putrefaction in the intestinal tract are such poisons as skatol, indol, phenol, acetic acid, and uric acid, all which tend to poison the body.”
It takes about 3-7 days for meat to pass through the intestines and eventually out of the body through your poo. This gives it ample time to rot in your gut spreading toxins that your liver cannot properly eliminate. Have you ever wondered why after eating a tasty meal of meat, bread, potatoes, and other favorites, you’re left feeling bloated and gassy or worse yet, with heartburn and indigestion?
Guess who’s the culprit?
Not to mention that intestinal worms can result from eating undercooked meat, pork, and fish in particular. I once heard that if your butt itches at nighttime this is because the worms are coming out. Sounds gross but turns out it’s true, even Doctor about pinworms. There are several types of worms that can set up shop in your body including pinworms, tapeworms, and roundworms.
Don’t worry, I’m not a member of PETA or anything. Quite frankly, I stopped Raw food diet eating meat not because I felt sorry for the animals (call me cold-hearted) but simply because it often left me huddled up in the fetal position with painful cramping in my belly after consuming it.
Once I realized the connection, I stopped eating it and haven’t experienced those symptoms since. And yes, I do miss my White Castle sliders and bacon cheeseburgers when I drive by these familiar chains (my faves in those meat days) but the consequences were just too hefty a price to pay for fleeting tastebud-driven delights.
Considering that even the Cancer Institute’s study also linked red meat intake with higher cancer and cardiovascular mortality rates (which are the two leading causes of death in the U.S.). I’ve got a strong suspicion that despite my family’s sideways looks and collective rolling of the eyes.
